SOEHS Student Advisory Board
The Student Advisory Board (SAB) is a group of undergraduate students within the School of Education & Human Sciences (SOEHS) that represents their fellow SOEHS students.
The purpose of the Student Advisory Board is to facilitate communication between SOEHS undergraduate students, faculty, and staff, and in the process, promote and enhance student programs and services. Members of the SOEHS-SAB are selected through a brief application and interview process. Members meet monthly to share their experiences and provide suggestions regarding involvement opportunities, policies, courses, degree requirements, and more. The group serves as a collective voice, providing feedback about the undergraduate academic experience and environment within SOEHS.
If you are looking to gain leadership experience, meet fellow SOEHS students, collaborate with SOEHS faculty and staff, and would like to help improve the SOEHS student experience at KU, please consider applying.
Eligibility, Selection and Expectations
Applicants must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in the School of Education & Human Sciences. Applicants should also be available to attend one hour-long meeting per month (day and time to be determined based on selected members' availability) and be willing to listen and share ideas with their committee members.
The SOEHS-SAB should be representative of the SOEHS undergraduate student body. As such, we encourage students from all levels and all SOEHS majors to apply. We are especially interested in collaborating with students who will share a wide variety of perspectives.
A small group of undergraduate students will be selected to join the SOEHS-SAB based on an online application and participation in a brief interview with representatives of the School of Education & Human Sciences.
Selections will be made at the beginning of each academic year. Members serve a one-year term; however, those who remain in good standing with the SOEHS-SAB will be invited to reapply each year.
Members of the SOEHS-SAB are expected to attend and participate in all monthly hour-long meetings. Meeting dates and times will be determined based on selected members' availability and will be shared at the beginning of each semester. Members with two or more unexcused absences may be dismissed from the SOEHS-SAB.
