CAEP Accountability Measures

Measure 1: Completer effectiveness and Impact on P-12 learning and development (Initial Licensure Programs)

The Kansas State Department of Education Department (KSDE) does not provide student achievement data (KAP and KELPA) or teacher performance data (KEEP).

Starting in Spring 2024, the EPP began conducting interviews with completers from each of our Initial and Advanced licensure programs to examine completer impact on student learning growth, use of professional knowledge, skills and dispositions in the classroom, and to examine both completer and employer satisfaction with their preparation at KU. Data for this ongoing case study are gathered using interviews with teachers and principals, observations of teachers’ classrooms, and school district P-12 student learning growth data.

The interviews focus on a subset of licensure programs each year with the goal that data will be collected on all the Initial and Advanced licensure programs by the end of each 7-year accreditation cycle.

For the Academic Year 2023-24, we completed 4 interviews. Each interview includes one Candidate (two years working in their licensure area), and the Employer/Supervisor of the candidate.

Initial

Elementary and STEMTeach KU.

Advanced

Building Leadership and District Leadership.

For the Academic Year 2024-25, we completed x interviews. Each interview includes one Candidate (two years working in their licensure area), and the Employer/Supervisor of the candidate.

Advanced

Low Incidence Disability

Measure 2: Satisfaction of Employers and Stakeholder Involvement (Initial and Advanced Licensure Programs)

Measures 3: Candidate Competency at Program Completion (Initial and Advanced Licensure Programs)

PRAXIS II data from 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 provide evidence that 94% of candidates scored above the threshold required for Kansas licensure. The attached table demonstrates which of our programs have exceeded the 80% pass rate for Praxis II content scores required to meet Kansas Department of Education EPP program standards. Pass status indicates that the candidate passed all Praxis exams required for Kansas licensure.

Across the 3 years, 94% completers in the Initial Licensure Programs who took the requisite exam(s), and 96% of completers in the Advanced Licensure Programs who took the requisite exam, passed the Praxis II exam(s) required for licensure. Of these students, 84% of candidates passed the required Praxis II content exam(s) on the first attempt.

The University of Kansas Educator Performance Assessment (KU-EPA) is a validated preservice candidate work sample as required by Kansas State Department of Education. KU-EPA data from 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 provide evidence that all candidates scored above the threshold required for Kansas licensure.

Measure 4: Ability of Completers to be Hired in Education Positions for Which They Have Been Prepared (Initial and Advanced Licensure Programs)
